I've destroyed my Facebook account. I have come to the conclusion that Facebook is going to be the end of society.
This decision was not simply a rash decision. Loyal readers will remember that last February I went a month without Facebook. That was a good month.
But last week, after 10 consecutive days of checking Facebook and only refusing group invitations from people I don't talk to, I've decided Facebook serves little purpose.
Now, I have a lot more free time to enjoy the world. Perhaps I will go out and paint a picture. Maybe I will learn a new language. But what I certainly will NOT be doing is sitting at a computer pretending I have 300 "friends".
If you wish to communicate, feel free to call me or email me. Like in those good ol' fashioned days of yore.
Best wishes, Sai
P.S. I guess this means that I am no longer officially a person, much like how dating someone is not official until it's on Facebook.
My TAL entry is pretty awful. I think I will send it in though, if just to get a coffee mug or tote bag. It has some good ideas, but I do not feel inspired to complete it.
I didn't get to cook duck last night. Apparently, there was some sort of problem with the good people at Duck Slaughter, Inc. They didn't give any details, so I imagine that the ducks revolted and are currently holding one of the meat packers hostage. However, it is the policy of Duck Slaughter, Inc. to NOT negotiate with duck terrorists.
My DNA is getting sequenced, and I have to spend a week figuring out what to do with my project...hmmm...
A good friend of mine had a waking nightmare a few days ago, and I can only imagine how awful that was.
New Jens Lekman album = awesome Not going to Girl Talk because of an O-Chem lab exam = lame
So, last night, I DJ my first dance. It was Sandbar at the Beta house. I think it went pretty well, except only a handful of people danced and most of them were hanging out at the actual Sandbar outside.
In any case, at least I exposed a few of my mash-ups to some new people.
I had dinner with some amazing psychology professors and Dr. Beuchner last night, which was awesome. We talked about the anti-evolution movement and the best ways to teach evolution effectively.
However, they were trying to convince me that Freud wasn't all that bad. I am of the opinion that once you discard the scientific method, you don't get to have any successes.
Anyway, this was a good week. To top it off, here is the most awesome Jens Lekman video ever. It's from his new album, which I still have yet to get. It makes me feel like I'm watching a terrible 70's movie.
I'm sure the planning for video went like this:
"What do you want to do in your music video?" "Well, I can fly planes..."
So, as some of you may know, the band I am playing bass for is now called Panda Circus. I, for one, am actually fairly fond of the name. Though it roams dangerously in the territory of Wolf Parade.
My first round of tests is through, and I did a fairly good job. My DNA is looking better, so we'll see what happens.
The Jesca Hoop is actually pretty good, but I prefer her live performances.
Speaking of which, Andrew Bird is on Monday. I'm fully prepared to be blown away by his looping mastery.
I've got a mix to finish. I won't give anything away, but let's just say that Ted Leo is involved.
So, this week was full of surprises. First, it looks like "This American Life" is having something of a mixing contest, since one of their episodes considered the impact of song arrangement. Although I haven't heard the episode, I've already begun my mix. It should be pretty good. More info here: http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=339
I had my first Micro test yesterday, and it was pretty intense. I'm hoping for a reasonably high grade, but I'm sure I messed up something. That and genetics are looking to be my toughest classes. Organic isn't so bad now.
Speaking of organic, I just got out of lab. In only 2 and a half hours, beating Rob's lab time by 1 and a half hours. I'm pretty proud of myself.
So, this weekend, I'm going to focus on scholarship applications, mixing, and my mircobiology presentation on Thursday. A fine weekend, if I do say so myself.
Finally, everyone needs to play more ultimate frisbee. It is perhaps the world's most perfect sport.
